Not to be confused with camping, Dimpsey Glamping is a world away from the traditional ‘character building’ life under canvas, where tents leaked and beds deflated. Today, Glamping offers a deep connection with nature yet with all the little luxuries of a boutique hotel.

Located on the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Somerset and Devon border, Dimpsey Glamping is set on a small farm of such ancient lineage that it features in the Domesday Book. Surrounded by breath taking countryside interspersed with quintessential picture postcard farms and villages, Dimpsey is a joyful return to the tranquillity of traditional country life.

Launching their new ‘Yonder Hut’ an addition to their established ‘Hither Hut’ (possibly the most endearing names in hut history!) Dimpsey has brought Boutique living to the British Wilds.

Using the finest local craftsmen their newest Shepherd Hut will delight even the most discerning designers’ eye. Built less than 10 minutes away by renowned Blackdown Shepherd Huts the immaculate craftsmanship is further enhanced by the sumptuous interior details. Gleaming copper light switches, William Holland Copper Basin, a hand built oak table and sheepskin covered seating are just a few of the bespoke country-luxe touches that adorn this dainty abode.

‘Our new Shepherd’s Brace Hut, which was built by Blackdown Shepherd allows us to develop further Dimpsey’s reputation for indulging our guests staying with us for their romantic glamping breaks – with the ultimate centrepiece being a beautiful copper William Holland bath on a raised platform opposite the bed.  At Dimpsey, the days are all about the wild outdoors and coastal walks, followed by the ultimate William Holland bathing experience lulling you into a restful mood and peaceful slumber.’ – Dimpsey Glamping

Local artisans, traditional skills and sustainability form the heart of this delightful destination infusing the hut with narrative, warmth and sincerity. From the handcrafted sweeping curves of the Copper Bath to the cosy wood burner set for those long lazy nights, everyday life is immersed in blissful luxury.

Vintage pieces add to the interior story, lending an eclectic air of quirk and character that enchants. A fire pit outside promises delicious evenings feasting on locally grown produce and meat from the farm.  Complimented by vegetables and herbs from your private kitchen garden, seasonal produce does not get fresher and more local than this!

Embracing the rich rural heritage of the region, the name ‘Dimpsey’ comes from the West Country word for the dreamy half-light that appears at twilight and dusk. Romantic, idyllic and ever so slightly ethereal, Dimpsey is a chance to escape to simpler times, to immerse yourself in alfresco living and simply just ‘be’.
