Kathryn Rayward will be known by many as co-presenter of BBC2’s Cracking Antiques as their resident vintage dealer and interiors specialist, and is one of the most well established designers on television today. Renowned for her distinctive, flamboyant style inspired by her background in theatre design, Kathryn’s rooms are full of individuality, flair and exuberance.
So when we were asked to supply one of our Cuprosa Bateau baths for their ‘labour of love’ 6 six year renovation project of a dilapidated Georgian Country House we could not have been more flattered or more thrilled. Rescued from the abyss of interior horror – apparently you could have suffocated beneath the layers of flaking flock wallpaper, if the kitsch cottagey units didn’t kill you first! This Grade II listed interior, remodelled by Sir Edwin Lutyens and Richard Norman at the turn of the last century, has not only been empathetically restored to reveal the glorious original features, such as bell-pulls, ornate plasterwork and even a baronial fireplace, but has been rejuvenated with delicate theatricality to create a vibrant and luxurious home.
Featured in Februarys Telegraph Magazine, large open spaces, highlighted with feature pieces and splashes of colour combine to create an environment where every room is a work of art. The William Holland Copper Bateau creates a stunning centrepiece against the natural hues of the bathroom, commanding magnificent views out over the lake and garden. The perfect place to while away an hour or so, basking in nature – albeit at a safe distance!
