Simple Scandinavian pleasures with an extraordinary style heritage

Danish born interior designer Julie Simonsen, keeps some truly stunning style and design company. Moving in circles of extraordinary heritage, she travels seamlessly through the centuries and continents. Combining contemporary Scandinavia with 17th century France all within a New England inspired property, she creates a collective design that broaches boundaries and brings ideological styles together in a way that any diplomat would be proud of.

The tongue and groove boarding, synonymous of the New England style are painted in a fresh delicate white, oceanic blues adorn the windows and doors and the interior is a delight of gentle coastal hues creating a home infused with the tranquillity of the sea. Bare floorboards and simple styling blend Scandinavian design perfectly with the New England architecture, creating serenity with a hint of the wild. Yet, it is the carefully selected pieces within this gloriously understated interior that hint at the style heritage within.

Amongst the natural and simplistic setting, reside design icons, so subtly integrated that it’s experientially akin to finding a Van Gogh in your kitchen cupboard.

Arne Jacobsen chairs keep company with Flemming Bergsoe originals adorning the walls, lamps by Seppo Koho mix with antique china and original French chandeliers, and taking centre stage in the master bedroom stands the William Holland French inspired Stanneus Bateau bath, all presented in such understated fashion that the result is a warm and welcoming interior based on pure absorption and enjoyment.
